Michelle has grown on me since last night, when she didn’t get much of the camera so I assumed she was a bit of a bimbo. She hasn’t revealed a startling intellect, but she seems fairly down to earth and normal, which makes a change from the others…

Nadia seems like a laugh, and isn’t as fluffy and happy go lucky as the other housemates. Really don’t care about her gender-switch - why should I? I like the fact that people have actually said they don’t want her in there. Tossers.

I loved Shell’s promo vid, and apart from the fact that she’s utterly gorgeous she seems a top girl - much like last years Nush, and BB2’s Helen, though with a Art History degree, slightly more intelligent :) Shell to win! (As much as I adored Helen).

Seemed like a bit of a tosser in his vid, though he’s chilled out in the house. A bit like Alex. Could go either way. But should stir things up a little.

The other down to earth laydee, went to bed early with Shell which is always an early pointer of sanity in the BB house. Hails from Cape Town, seems bright enough. Hopefully she’ll survive a good distance.

Victor is a chilled out lad from London who has got on well with Jay and Dan. Says he has had a hard background, but he’s got a smart wit and is no blunt spoon. I like the guy.

Who do I want to win?
Jay or Shell

Who do I think will win?
Jay or Vanessa

It’s nearing 5am, blood levels of caffeine and alcohol are running high, and I sit here tapping off this blog entry with the Big Brother stream window sitting proudly in corner right of screen, and some Calexico brilliance plucking along in my headphones.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the life.

Fucking love Big Brother. This years could be GREAT. I think I’d give a firmer thumbs up to the housemates than most years - an aggressive mix, certainly. With the promise of psychological shennanigans from their end too, things are primed to kick off. Can’t wait.

The housemates (I shall review each member briefly in a second) are currently lounging around rather sonambulistically in comical egg-yolk style seats (very cool). Can’t name ‘em as yet. It’s all very boring, but they’re knackered so I’ll forgive them.

Bit of an out-there choice, is Ahmed. Liked him on his intro vid until he quite overtly mentioned his homophobia. I’ll reserve judgment, mind. But still. *cough*

Seems like a top bloke, if a bit cryptic. Likeable bi (?) who wants to stir things up a little. Spent most of the evening chatting to Jay(son).

Heh, very dappy but quite lovable. Rambled on to a very bored Ahmed about astrology and crap. A talker. Intellect about Goody-par. Makes Helen seem Einsteinian.

Made his entry (and what an entry!) in bowtie and tigerprint thong. Seems like an utter legend. Definitely my favourite boy in the house, and gorgeous bod.

Made, in her words, a “dick” of herself upon entering by provoking the press for no apparent reason and throwing a hissyfit about not snogging the tongue off her rather unnattractive girlfriend. Has something to prove. Cue the fireworks…

Seems like a nice enough guy, but is behaving like a total tosser. The man needs to chill out a little, he’s getting on my tits. Every sentence ends in “OH MY GAWD!”.

More on the next six tomorrow! (today)

Nice moment of excitement last night when my friend rang me at around 2am to mention that there’d be an outbreak of Ebola in Russia, and that we should probably “go hide in the hills”. He was utterly pissed. Checked the usual sources (Google News and PCGF, obviously) shortly after and found out that it was less thrilling than he had said it was. Still, it makes you think, right? Would you be excited or scared? I’d plump for the former.

I’ve decided today that I’m not quite so utterly fucked over my A2 exams as I’d begun to think I was over the past few days. This was mainly due to unwanted pressure for the parentals harping on about revision. I still agree with myself that I’m more than happy about English Lit (studying Larkin, The Duchess of Malfi, The Bell and North and South), nonchalant about General Studies (I mean come on, really…) and adequately poised for DT (which is a joke, frankly). Philosophy is the real bugger - it’s such a vast subject and the various ideas that you have to learn are quite complex. However today I had a minor epiphany after settling down to revise it, and found that I actually knew quite a lot of it already. Which is great.

Probably staying up til 5am playing on Live isn’t helping, but it’s certainly not being detrimental. No idea why my body clock naturally adjusts to having waking hours of 2pm -> 6am over holidays, but screw it. It’s all good. If you happen to be awake and playing on Live, my tag is Jiggaboy. Be warned, though, I’m hideously good, but likely to anger if I lose ;)

I’m listening to The Orb’s Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld, and “Into the Fourth Dimension”. Don’t really have much to say about the album (released back in 1991)that hasn’t already be said - probably a failing. But it’s massive, stunning, eclectic and brilliant. Much like 2001 which inspires a lot of it. 2001 is a really annoying film because whilst it’s quite overtly genius, post-watch you never know what to think of it. Oh, sure, it’s clever - but what is it saying? Man’s quest to evolve? *shrugs* I’ve had several ranging late-night/early morning discussions on it with equally bamboozled friends, and still I’m none the wiser. Not that I really want to be. Awesome.

Sass! I want your sass!
Sass! I-i-i-i-i-i want your sass!

Troy - 3 stars. Doesn’t merit much discussion at all, since they crudely snipped all the eros and mythic aspects and left a rather empty film. Bana did well.

So anyway, onto more culturally high class topics.. Big Brother 5 starts this Friday. Do you even care? I do. Can’t. Fucking. Wait. I chow down on reality TV like no other person, honestly.

Lyrics come straight from the hard-hitting, seizure inducing opener to Dance Disaster Movement’s 2003 debut, We Are From Nowhere, I want your sass. Imagine a dirty, schizophrenic Franz Ferdinand and you’re about there. Go nab them and paint the town a little.

I love the internet. What other world allows people to participate at strange hours of the night doing nothing but co-existing silently, together? It’s 2am and writing a blog entry seems perfectly natural. I love that.

I came on to post about film, naturally enough. I constantly - even at 2am - feel the need to exhort to people my passion for it. I apologise. I’d like to tell you about a feeling that I get after seeing a good film.

What it is this…actually it’s really split into two separate emotions, and it’ll be familiar to those who share a passion for the subject:

1) After watching a great film you feel like nothing else matters in life as long as you can continue to experience beautiful things like that. You’re struck dumb in appreciation, reverence, thanks, whatever. You don’t know WHAT you’re struck dumb about. Just…the film. The way it worked. The way you can’t recollect anything about what you experienced in the previous room. The fact that it’s impossible to equivocate in words. Your friends say “Hey, what did you think of that then?” You say “…”.

2) A thought pops into your head, I want to make films like that. Then you feel totally unworthy at having even considered that idea. It’s so humbling. It’s the feeling of self-confidence being Dyson’d from your soul. You feel so fucking empty, so fucking powerless. You want to feel invigorated. Later you will. But right now you feel totally smited, like all the belief and passion for film, and ability for creating a equal work has totally evaporated.

That’s what a good film does. Good films don’t fucking inspire or empower, they destroy you. Right there the moment the credits start to roll, and the cinema suddenly appears around you, and you’re wearing clothes and your armpits are laced with a cold sweat, that’s where you get destroyed. Every time.

Next Friday you’ll be there again.

So finally I get round to updating my blog. I also took the liberty of changing the godawful colour scheme and layout. Nothing too fancy - it’s the words that matter.

On Friday I finished my last “formal” school day, ever. On Monday we have our muck-up day where we come into school only to cause as much chaos as possible. I won’t post any details here yet - that could let several rather large cats out of the bag - but I’ll post some time next week to enlighten you on what happened.

In other news, E3 generally seems to have been rather excellent, with loads of top-name games showing off their stuff. Fable looks gorgeous, even if the hack-and-slash and “expression” systems seem a little simplistic (and consoley in a bad way). Doom III looks scary as hell. Half-Life 2 looks as-expected. And Halo 2 just continues to wet appetites across the globe. It will be Very Cool.

Eternal Sunshine was the last film I saw in the cinema. It’s a masterpiece. I adored it. Troy next, though that’s got a disappointing reception, and then The Day After Tomorrow, which could go either way.

Finally, a mention of my website littleeyeontheworld.com that re-launched as a promo page on Friday. It will open over Summer, and will focus on quality film-related articles and content. Go visit :)
